東京奧運為了響應環保,在選手村內使用由紙板製作的床架。該床架由日本寢具公司愛維福(Airweave)設計,由高阻力紙板製作,可承重200公斤。不過在疫情之下,以紙板製成床架的用意,引發起避免選手「禁慾」猜疑。

美國長跑運動員切利莫(Paul Chelimo)17日在社交媒體發文,指奧運選手村內使用紙板床架,只能承受一個人的重量,是避免選手之間發生「親密行為」;又戲謔稱一旦尿床,紙板床架就會溶化倒塌,自己要開始練習如何睡在地板上,感覺前往東京奧運「壓力更大」。

國際奧委會19日發文,引用愛爾蘭男子體操運動員麥克萊納漢 (Rhys McClenaghan) 所拍攝的影片,影片中麥克萊納漢在「禁慾床」上連續跳了幾下,並指紙板床架十分堅固,打破外界的流言。

自1988年起,奧運官方都會向選手派發安全套,今年派發的總量為16萬個,遠較上一屆巴西里約熱內盧奧運會45萬個為少。東京奧組委先前透過聲明表示,派發安全套的用意和宗旨並不是讓選手在奧運選手村內使用,而是作為紀念品帶回自己的國家,提高在疫情下的防護意識。
